Happy June! Last month, I made it my goal to read 3 books (A Conjuring of Light, The Diviners, and Pride and Prejudice), and I also put myself on a book ban for the month.
What were the results?
Well, I finished The Diviners and Pride and Prejudice, but only got about 200 pages into A Conjuring of Light by 31 May.
I also saw AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. (It hurt my heart).
Also, I bought two more books and ended up borrowing about 12 more from the library.
But all things considered, I don’t think this is too much of a failure. Trying to juggle work, a practicum, kickball, family, friends, and other surprises made reading a bit more difficult. However, I think I’m getting this juggling thing down pretty well so I’m feeling fairly confident for my June reading goals.
What are these goals? Well….
- A Conjuring of Light (V.E. Schwab): I have seriously been enjoying this book. Part of the reason I haven’t finished (aside from the craziness of life) is because I’m taking my sweet time with this book. I’ve cried more times than I can count and I keep going back to reread pages. I am determined to finish it this month though.
- The 57 Bus (Dashka Slater): I spontaneously grabbed this book from the New Nonfiction section at work. I’m not much of a nonfiction reader, but this true crime book about an agender teenager in a skirt, a teen with a lighter, and a life changing incident on a public bus just caught my eye. This book is also the winner of the Stonewall Book Award and is a finalist for the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults.
- Shadow and Bone (Leigh Bardugo): This book is a re-read for me. I read The Grisha Trilogy a few years ago and have been dying to pick it back up again. Bardugo’s writing is magic, and her characters are really something else entirely. I’m looking forward to meeting Nikolai and The Darkling again.
But wait! There’s more!
My summer is (fun) chaos between work and my internship, but June is especially crazy because….
I’M GOING TO ALA.
Hello, New Orleans (aka one of my favorite cities. This will be my third time going). I’m so excited for some Southern bookish adventures, good food, new friends, and to see this amazing city once again.
Other June Goals:
-Get more than 5 hours of sleep at night.
-Go on a mini road trip.
-Be about 70% done with my internship hours by the end of the month.
Tell me about your June reading goals or fun June plans!
